Description

WW1 LFC M1918 MK1 fighting knife manufactured by Landers, Frary & Clark (LF&C) in Connecticut; battle-damaged specimen. Authentic WW-I era American fighter in fair condition, considering the age; rare type.

This is a classic WW1 era American fighting knife; Mark I type manufactured by Landers, Frary & Clark  in CT.  M1918 “knuckle duster” fighter was produced during WW1 but it was issued to same American troops during WW2 as well. See a reference photo of one GI removing a German AP landmine with the help of his M1918 fighting knife (the photo is a courtesy of Wikipedia and will not be included with the knife.

This specimen is obviously been used quite a bit – the blade is missing a tip and has a bunch of edge nicks; the top piece of the knuckle duster is MIA as well. Cast bronze handle is marked U.S. 1918 / L.F.&C. – 1918 one one side; the blade is unmarked as intended. The knife is about 10-1/2″ / 26.7 cm overall from the tip of the blade to the end of the scull crusher. The remaining blade is about 5-3/5″ / 14.5 cm long. Original metal scabbard i sadly missing in auction. Still, this WW1 LFC M1918 MK1 fighting knife is hard-to-find type in any condition nowadays. This important piece of WW1 history mill make a great addition to any collection.
