West Germany M1968 fighting knife; original Cold War era Bundeswehr Kampfmesser made by Otto Forster Witzhelden (OFW) Solingen in 1970. Original metal scabbard is included; great overall condition, considering the age.
Original Cold War era West Germany military large M1968 Kampfmesser model fighting knife in used, but very much serviceable condition still. This West Germany Bundeswehr combat knife was developed in 1968; this particular specimen was manufactured by Otto Forster, Witzhelden in Solingen, Germany in 1970 (stamped OFW / 70 on ricasso).
The knife is about 10-3/8″ / 26.5 cm overall; the blade is about 5-1/2″ / 14 cm long; it has been sharpened but not harshly; the edge is razor-sharp still; the tip is intact. OD-green cast plastic handle and iron guard. The handle is made of high-impact olive green plastic marked BW – for Bundeswehr – on one side. All parts are tight with no play. Original metal scabbard on a green leather frog; all part are intact. The metal part of the scabbard is missing most of its original OD-green finish; initials WE are scratched on the back.
