West Germany Cold War paratrooper knife Type III Fallschirmjäger-Messer made circa 1980th; slightly used condition.
Original Cold War era West Germany military Type III Fallschirmjäger-Messer (paratrooper knife) in slightly used condition. Unmarked specimen; this post-WW2 German paratrooper knife was manufactured circa 1980th in Solingen, Germany. The knife is about 5-1/2″ / 14 cm closed; the blade is about 3-1/4″ / 8.3 cm long; the edge has been lightly re-sharpened; it is pretty sharp still; the tip is intact. Heavy-duty spike is about 3-1/4” / 8.3 cm. Handle scales are made of high-impact olive green plastic; there is no D-ring shackle. The knife could be taken apart for cleaning and maintenance by pressing on a small steel rectangle on the bolster.
