WADE BUTCHER Sheffield PIONEER hunting knife, original MADE IN ENGLAND leather sheath; vintage 1920th-1930th hunter in rare UNUSED condition.
Scarce circa 1920th-1930th high-quality PIONEER model Hunter in rare unused condition; manufactured for the American market by the famous Wade & Butcher Co. in Sheffield, England. The early “aluminum pommel” hunters were the “cream of the crop” in the eraly 1900th and were sold at a premium. Attached is the contemporary ad for this knife – a lot of money back then!
The knife is about 9-1/4″ / 23.5 cm; the blade is about 4-7/8″ / 12.5 cm long. The blade is razor-sharp; the tip is intact. Stacked leather washers and bronze/colored fiber spacers with German silver half-guard and solid aluminum pommel. All parts are tight with no play; some minor oxidation on brass spacers is noted for accuracy. Original brown leather sheath is in excellent shape, considering it’s about 100 years old. The keeper is nice and tight; the leather is soft and supple. This scarce WADE BUTCHER Sheffield PIONEER hunting knife in rare UNUSED condition will make a great addition to any collection.
I have a small but very interesting collection of various edged WW1 and WW2 era weapons available for sale. Don’t forget to check out the store’s Militaria section for WW1 and WW2 era combat knives, including German WW1 era trench knives, vintage USAF WW2 Pilot Knives and a couple of rare WW2 “OSS Drop” knives we offer for sale.
