Original Vietnam War era M4 bayonet for M1 carabine manufactured in 1966-1969 by Conetta Manufacturing Co. The manufacture of M4 bayonets with the “new style” plastic grips began in 1954; most of such M4s were issued during the war in Vietnam. A large quantity of M1 carabines were transferred to the South Vietnamese armed forces. The M1 carbine was well-suited for jungle warfare and it was well-received by the troops. Attached are a few contemporary photos of South Vietnamese troops armed with M1 carabines and M4 bayonets (photos are for reference only; not included with the lot).

This specimen is in rare unused condition with original finish. This M4 is about 11-1/2″/ 29 cm overall; parkerized blade is about 6-1/2″ / 16.5 cm long.  The edge is very sharp; the tip is intact. Ricasso is unmarked as intended; muzzle ring/guard is stamped U.S. M4CONETTA. Black plastic handle scales are tight and in perfect condition; the handle is solid; tall parts are tight with no play. Bayonet release mechanism is in perfect working order; it’s 100% functional. Original M8A1 composition scabbard was made by Pennsylvania Working Home for the Blind (TWB stamp on the throat). The scabbard is also unused; unpainted “gun-gray” steel throat is stamped USM8A1 / TWB on the front side.

This Vietnam War Conetta M4 bayonet and TWB M8A1 composition scabbard are in excellent overall condition and 100% serviceable still. Not cleaned or tampered with in any way; these are the actual photos; spent brass is not included with the lot 😉  I have a few more Vietnam War fighting knives and bayonets, as well as several scarce WW1 and WW2 American and European fighting daggers, bayonets and trench knives available for sale – please take a look in our Militaria section.
