Vietnam War Berylco hazmat crash ax – large “non-spark” GS1 cast bronze safety axe, original leather scabbard. Rare type in hard-to-find UNUSED condition; super tough to find this nice and complete.
Scarce Vietnam War era model GS1 hazmat Non-Sparking Crash Axe manufactured by NGK Berylco. The axe is made of a non-sparking, non magnetic, corrosive-resistant beryllium copper alloy. This type was specifically designed for work in the explosive-vapors/petroleum spills environment or near live ordnance; it was a standard-issue USN crash/safety equipment during the Vietnam War and later years. All parts are intact; the blade’s edge is intact and problem-free; adjustment wheel is excellent and 100% functional. The ax is about 17″ / 43 cm overall; the head is about 7-3/4″ / 19.7 cm wide from the blade to the end of the pick. Original “old style” leather sheath is included. The sheath is in great overall condition as well; the leather is soft and supple; all original stitching is intact – rare this nice. Overall, this original Vietnam War Berylco hazmat crash ax is in excellent unused condition. A desirable and highly collectible type; this type rare this nice and complete.
