Description
A large and sturdy “private purchase” type fighting knife manufactured during WW2 by Kutmaster (Utica Cutlery Co.) in Utica, NY, USA. This is a simple but practical slim-blade fighter with a heavy-duty 7-inch blade and stacked leather washers/steel pommel & guard handle. This exact type is illustrated on page 177 of KNIVES OF THE UNITED STATES MILITARY WORLD WAR II book by Michael W Silvey – a well-established expert and the author of a number of books on the subject of the US military edged weapons (see book’s page scan attached).
This fighting knife is about 11-3/4” / 30 cm overall; bright finish blade is about 7″ / 17.8 cm. Fullered blade has been lightly re-sharpened; it is razor-sharp still; the tip is intact. Ricasso is stamped KUTMASTER / UTICA. NY. USA. on one side. Stacked leather washers handle with a hammer-like pommel and thick iron guard; the handle is solid; all parts are tight with no play. USN-marked leather scabbard was made by Boyt in 1943. The scabbard is in very good overall condition, considering the age. The leather is a bit stiff but all stitching and staples are intact; the keeper is MIA. This attractive USA WW2 Kutmaster fighting knife is in very much serviceable condition still; with proper care this old timer will last you another 80 years 😉
This original USA WW2 Kutmaster fighting knife has not been cleaned or tampered with in any way; it is in 100% original “as is” condition; these are the actual photos. Garand clips are not included with the knife 😉 I have a few more American, German, British, Italian, and French fighting knives, as well as some scarce WW2 and WW1 daggers, trench knives and bayonets available for sale – please take a look in the Militaria section.
