Description
Exceedingly rare circa 1950 large-size 20.55 oz silver ingot with classic oval San Francisco Mint “spread eagle” logo. Putting an exact date on these bars is difficult; bars with similar SF Mint logos and font type have been traced to 1930th – 1950th production. The front side directly below the logo is stamped with serial number 1959; perfectly centered bold strike with sharp details. Stamps below logo read “1959 / 20.55 ozs/ 999.75 FINE”. The bar measures approximately 90 mm x 60 mm x 12 mm; perfect even pour without blemishes or depressions. The reverse is unmarked, but the lower edge plain is stamped with “2”. The bar weights 20.55 Troy oz / 643.1 grams (verified) and is in excellent overall condition with light iridescent patina. Surface texture is nearly as made; there are virtually no signs of handling. Not cleaned or tampered with; these are the actual photos. Rare in any shape or form today; will make a great addition to any collection.
We have another rare American silver ingot for sale – Nevada Silver Co. – scarce “screaming eagle” old poured silver bar; VERY hard to find. Due to US customs restrictions related to shipment of silver bars overseas we will not ship these items internationally. Take a look at other rare silver bars in our Bullion section.
