Rare M8A1 scabbard manufactured in Japan in the early 1950s in Tokyo under a contract for the US military.  The common knowledge is that small number of “J type” bayonets/scabbards were made in Japan in the late 1940s – early 1950s. These were issued to the USMC stationed in Okinawa; some of these also found their way into the Korean War.

This specimen is excellent overall condition for the type – the composite material the Japanese had chosen for these scabbards has proven to be very brittle and this type was quickly discontinued. Because of this, the “J type” scabbards are exceedingly hard-to-find in any shape or form nowadays. This is a must-have for any serious M8/M8A1 set type collector, don’t miss your chance to add this rare Japan Korean War M8A1 scabbard to your collection!

This Japan Korean War M8A1 scabbard has not been cleaned or tampered with in any way. It is in 100% original “as purchased” condition; these are the actual photos. I have a few more Asian fighting knives and bayonets, as well as several scarce WW1 and WW2 American and European fighting daggers, bayonets and trench knives available for sale – please take a look in our Militaria section.
