HG Long Sheffield Clandestine Operations sleeve dagger scarce commemorative issue of the WW2 classic “commando nail” original leather sheath. Rare UNUSED condition.

Scarce modern-day replica of the famous WW2 era OSS operatives concealed-carry “commando nail”; made in H.G. Long in Sheffield, England. H.G. Long is one of the oldest British cutlery firms; the company was established in 1846. The war-time original “commando nails” were made of carbon steel this present-day specimen was made to the original specs but from the best quality modern materials. The dagger is unused/never carried – it’s in excellent overall condition; factory edges are razor-sharp; the tip is intact. The original World War 2 era spike dagger what was used by the OSS operatives and British commandos is illustrated on page 139 of the KNIVES OF THE UNITED STATES MILITARY WORLD WAR II book by Michael W Silvey – a well-established expert and the author of a number of books on the subject of the US military edged weapons (see the book’s scans attached).

The dagger is about 7-1/8″ / 18 cm overall; the blade is about 3-1/2″ / 9 cm long. The dagger was never used or carried; it comes with the “sleeve type” clandestine-carry leather scabbard with could be used with a small belt as well. The scabbard is minty as well; the leather is soft and supple; the sheath is in 100% serviceable condition; you will not be disappointed. I’m selling this item on a consignment; a reserve price has been set by the seller.

This HG Long Sheffield Clandestine Operations sleeve dagger / “Commando Nail” has not been cleaned or tampered with in any way, it is in 100% original “as is” condition; these are the actual photos.
