Description

Germany WW2 Pack Sohne officers dagger (Dienstwaffe) early WW-II issue made in Ritterwerk, Solingen. Solid stag handle, original metal scabbard and leather frog. Rare type in excellent condition, considering the age.

Original early WW2 era officer’s Dienstwaffe (service weapon) manufactured by Ernest Pack & Sohne in Ritterwerk, Solingen, Germany. An early type with the iron S-guard and a flat metal pommel; some sources state that these were Luftwaffe officers standard issue before WW2; a rare military dagger by all accounts.  This general type is illustrated on page 250 of the excellent French reference book titled Knives and Daggers-Bayonets Used by the German Army During 1914-1945 by Christian Mary (see the book’s page scan in the photos).

This rare dagger is in excellent  overall condition – no pitting, edge nicks, or dings on the spine/pommel; the blade is razor-sharp still; the tip is intact. Original leather washer is still on; the S-guard is nice and tight with no play ; some minor surface rust on the guard is noted for accuracy. The dagger is about 13” / 33 cm overall; the blade is about 7-3/4” / 19.7 cm. Original  European elk stag handle with two large retention pins and German silver pommel. The handle is tight wit no play; the stag is near-excellent with no chips, cracks, or repairs. The original-issue metal scabbard with leather frog is in great shape as well.  The scabbard is unmarked; the frog is faintly stamped with a small waffenamt-style stamp within the stitching triangle on the belt hanger. It looks like a small Nazi eagle clutching a small swastika; it is covered within a round inspection stamp. The frog is excellent; all stitching is intact; the leather is soft and supple.

This rare Germany WW2 Pack Sohne officers dagger type is VERY hard to find nowadays, especially with the original scabbard and frog present. Originals are nearly impossible to locate in any shape or form as most are in private collections and just don’t come up for sale no more; don’t miss your chance to add it to your collection!

This scarce Germany WW2 Pack Sohne officers dagger has not been cleaned or tampered with in any way, it is in 100% original “as is” condition; these are the actual photos.
