Scarce type in great overall condition, considering the age. FREE EXPEDITED SHIPPING WITHIN THE US FOR THIS ITEM.
Original WW1 era German Army Kampfmesser (combat knife) manufactured circa 1914-1915 by Anton Wingen Jr. in Solingen, Germany. This is a sturdy fighting knife with a solid stag handle, thick forged steel blade with integrated guard and hard-to-find original metal scabbard. This exact type is illustrated on page 37 of the excellent French reference book by Christian Mary Knives and Daggers-Bayonets Used by the German Army During 1914-1945 (see the book’s page scan in the photos).
This fighting knife is used but it’s in better than average condition for the type – no pitting, dings or nicks on the blade; the edge is very sharp still; needle-like tip is slightly bent but intact. The dagger is about 11-3/4” / 30 cm overall; saber-point blade is about 6” / 15 cm; most of the original etching is still clearly visible. Original solid stag handle with iron butt cap and collar; black finish on the cap and collar is original. All parts are tight with no play; typical sharpening marks on the blade are noted for accuracy. Original metal scabbard is in excellent shape, considering it is over 110 years old. The scabbard holds the blade nice and tight with no wobble; over 90% of the original black finish on the metal is remaining; original belt hanger and is still intact; the keeper is MIA. After 100+ years this rare Germany WW1 fighting knife is in 100% serviceable condition still.
Not cleaned; these are the actual photos; Mauser clips are not included with the knife 😉 Don’t miss your chance to add this scarce original WW-I era Germany WW1 fighting knife / trench dagger to your collection!
