Germany Puma 1986 970 Whitetail – Wildlife series limited edition gold-etched Caribou deer blade, yellow micarta handle. Rare UNUSED in original display case; only 200 made.
Puma’s limited edition Model 970 WHITETAIL folding hunter with incredibly detailed gold etching of Caribou deer on the blade; hand-finished in 1986 in Solingen, Germany. The Whitetail was part of the short-run Wildlife series Puma produced in the mid-1980th; each type was limited to just 200 serial-numbered knives; all Wildlife series knife types are VERY hard-to-find nowadays.
This specimen is serial number 035 – deeply etched on the blade; Puma’s control number (42682) on the blade lock indicates 1986 production year. The knife is about 8-1/2” / 21.5 cm fully opened; gold-etched blade is about 3-3/4″ / 9.5 cm; it’s tight with no play; original factory edge is razor-sharp, the tip is intact. Yellow micarta handle scales are excellent with no chips or cracks; all parts are tight. The knife is unused; it comes with a wood presentation case with a clear-plastic top cover. The bottom of the case still has the original $600 price tag attached.
