Canada MS Ltd XX M346 Navy knife with marlin spike, tin opener. Original Korean War era issue manufactured 1948-1949 in Nova Scotia; scarce type in great condition, considering the age. FREE EXPEDITED SHIPPING WITHIN THE U.S. FOR THIS ITEM

Large Korean War era model M346 Marlin Spike sailor’s knife manufactured for the Canadian military by Case XX subsidiary W.R. Case & Sons of Canada, Ltd. in Pictou, Nova Scotia, Canada – a scarce type. These were produced for a very short period from 1948 to 1949; all were marked M.S. Ltd XX on the tang. During WW2 years Canada was purchasing M346 Navy Knife from the US; these WW2 era knives were manufactured for the Canadian Armed forces 1942 to 1945 by Case Cutlery. Both types look nearly identical, except for the the type of metals used for the handle and tang stamps. Designated by the Ordnance Stores department as “Knife, Clasp, with Marlin Spike and Tin Opener”, these specimens looks pretty much like the early British counterparts, except that the American-made M346 knives were of much better quality.  This type is illustrated on pages 191-192 of BRITISH AND COMMONWEALTH MILITARY KNIVES book Ron Flook – a well-established expert on this subject. Attached is a copy of the WW2 era photo with the Canadian sniper scout in a position somewhere in Normandy in the summer of 1944. The man in the photo has an identical M346 “marlin spike folder” hanging off his belt (original photo is not included with the knife).

This post-WW2 era specimen is in great overall condition with all blades and marlin spike intact; this type is hard-to-find this nice as most were used in the filed as intended. This large folder is about 4-3/4″ / 12 cm closed; heavy-duty marlin spike is about 3-7/8” / 10 cm long; needle-like tip in intact; the spike is nice and tight with no play. Sheepsfoot-tip blade is about 3-1/2″ / 9 cm long; the edge is very sharp still; the tip is intact. All blades open and close with a sharp snap. The tin opener blade is in excellent condition as well; its spring is very tight, so this small blade requires some muscle to open and close.  The tang on the main blade is stamped M.S. Ltd XX. Steel handle scales have some sight pitting here and there; nothing major. The handle is tight; original shackle (clasp); all handle parts are solid with no play; a few minor contact marks on the handle are noted for accuracy. This rare Canada MS Ltd XX M346 Navy knife is in great overall condition, considering the age. Don’t miss your chance to add this scarce Canadian military knife in rare unused condition to your collection!

This original Canada MS Ltd XX M346 Navy knife has not been cleaned or tampered with in any way. It is in 100% original “as is” condition; these are the actual photos.
