Description
AHF Imperial M3 fighting knife 2nd Infantry Division 24K gold-etched blade commemorative issue, only 1943 made. Mint with original COA, papers, shipping box; hard-to-find this nice and complete.
This is the post-war limited edition run of the classic WW2 era M3 fighting knife manufactured by Imperial Cutlery – one of the original M3 makers during WW2. Although this is a presentation piece, this M3 trench knife was manufactured to the original WW2 era specs; this is 100% solid, functional fighting knife. The 1986 limited run for The American Historical Foundation (AHF) was limited to just 1943 serial-numbered M3 of each type (one for each US Army Division in the European theater). The stunning mirror-polished, deep-blued blade is plated with 24K gold; the guard and pommel are gold-plated as well. This is the 2nd Infantry – aka “Indianhead” – Division specimen with serial No. 200 finely engraved on ricasso. The knife comes with original COA serial No. 0200, order confirmation letter/ various AHF papers, a pair of white gloves for safe handling, cardboard blade protector, and the original owner’s shipping box.
This M3 is about 11-1/2” / 29.2 cm overall; the blade is about 6-3/4″ / 17.2 cm; it has not been re-sharpened, original edge is razor-sharp; the tip is intact. Stacked grooved leather washers handle; steel guard and hammer-like pommel; all parts are tight with zero play. All of the original 24K gold plating on the blade, guard, and pommel remaining. The guard is stamped US M3 / IMPERIAL, just like on the original WW2 era issue. Original AHF issue price for the knife only was $195 – a lot of money 35 years ago! Scarce to begin with, these limited edition M3s are VERY hard to find in the “as-purchased” condition with all original paperwork intact. I have a few AHF commemorative fighting knives in pristine condition – please check out my store’s Edged Weapons section for similar items. This rare M3 will make an excellent addition to any collection.
This AHF Imperial M3 fighting knife 2nd Infantry Division commemorative fighter has not been cleaned or tampered with in any way, it is in 100% original “as is” condition. These are the actual photos.
