Description
WW2 USN Collins Legitimus MK2 machete, 18-inch blade, “theater-dressed” stacked leather washers handle. Original canvass/webbing scabbard; great overall condition, considering the age.
Original WW2 era US Army issue Mark II jungle machete in very good overall condition. This MK2 is used but it’s in better than average condition for the type; it comes with the original WW2 era khaki canvas/webbing scabbard with the brass throat and wire belt hanger. This type was used to cut through jungle vegetation during patrols, clear the fields of fire for machine-gun teams, and other similar heavy-duty tasks. The highly efficient MK1 machete had replaced an earlier “shorty” M1917 Bolo knife, which was just too small and too light for most of the tasks it was intended for.
Light pitting on the blade; surface rust has been polished away; no typical damage to the edge or the blade’s spine – this specimen is in much better than average condition for the type. The blade was lightly sharpened and its very sharp still, the tip is intact. This big boy is about 22-3/4″ / 57.8 cm overall; the blade is about 18″ / 45.7 cm. Interesting “field-dressed” stacked leather washers with brass butt plate and guard handle; the handle is tight with no play. Original mid-war issue canvass scabbard is in excellent shape, considering the age. All original stitching and rivers are intact; correct and original brass wire belt hanger and throat. This WW2 era MK2 machete and scabbard set is in 100% serviceable condition still. This original WW2 USN Collins Legitimus MK2 machete set is in great shape, considering the age. Do’t miss your chance to add it to your collection!
This original WW2 USN Collins Legitimus MK2 machete set has not been cleaned or tampered with in any way, it is in 100% original “as is” condition. These are the actual photos; spent brass is not included with the lot 😉 I have a few more WW2 era machetes, several WW2 fighting knives/bayonets, as well as some scarce WW1 and WW2 fighting daggers and trench knives available for sale – please take a look in the store’s Militaria section.
