Description

WW2 US Woodmans Pal Survival Machete model LC-14-B made circa 1943 by Victor Tool Co. Scarce complete set with original canvass scabbard, fighting manual, care instructions & honing stone. Rare UNUSED condition – VERY hard to find this nice and complete.

Original WW2 era model LC-14-B Survival Machete/Fighting Knife manufactured for the US military by The Victor Tool Co. in Reading, Pennsylvania; circa 1943 issue. This multi-use machete has a long edge for chopping, a square entrenching edge for digging, and a curved hook edge for brush clearing and/or hand-to-hand combat. The tool is in as-issued, unused condition; the blade is still covered with the rust-preventing cosmoline coat. Original black finish throughout; the factory edge is razor-sharp; the tip and hook are intact. The set includes LC-14-B machete, original green canvas scabbard, care instructions/user manual, a vividly illustrated hand-to-hand combat fighting manual, and a rare early-issue round honing stone. This WW2-issue type is not particularly rare, but because most of these popular machetes were used as intended, they are VERY hard to find this complete and practically impossible to find in unused condition, still covered in factory cosmoline.

Stacked leather washers handle is in excellent condition; all parts are tight with no play. The outer side of the “D-guard” is stamped LC-14-B. This machete is about 16-5/8″ / 42.3 cm overall; the blade is about 11-7/8″ / 30.2 cm long; stamped with the company logo/name/patent number on one side. The original canvass scabbard looks great; all original parts are present and intact. The manuals are in great condition as well; both are 1943-dated.  This exact type is illustrated on page 310 of THE MILITARY KNIFE AND BAYONET  book by Homer Brett. Mr. Brett is a USMC veteran and a well-established expert and author of several books on the subject of US military edged weapons.
