Description
Original WW2 era “private purchase” fighting knife manufactured by a little-known Queen City Co during the war. This exact type is illustrated on page 203 of the KNIVES OF THE UNITED STATES MILITARY WORLD WAR II book by Michael W Silvey – a well-established expert and author of many books on the subject of US military edged weapons (see the scan attached).
This is a simple but practical fighter with a great balance and fit; the blade is marked Queen City on ricasso. Stacked “finger grooved” leather washers and black fiber spacers handle with a simple iron double-guard and steel oval butt plate for a pommel. The handle is tight; all parts are solid with no play. This fighter is about 10-1/2″ / 26.6 cm overall; the blade is about 6″ / 15.3 cm. The edge is very sharp still; the tip is intact; no pitting, edge nicks or dings on the spine – this knife is in better-than-average condition for the type. The scabbard did not survive.
This scarce WW2 American theater fighting knife has not been cleaned or tampered with in any way; it is in 100% original “as is” condition. These are the actual photos; spent brass is not included with the knife 😉 I have more WW2 era American, British, Australian, New Zealand, and German fighting knives, as well as several scarce WW1 and WW2 fighting daggers, bayonets and trench knives available for sale – please take a look in the Militaria section.
