Description

WW2 PAL M1905 bayonet dated 1943, 16-in blade; orig composition scabbard; scarce uncut specimen in rare unused condition – this type is hard-to-find this nice and complete.

Original WW2 era M1905 bayonet manufactured in 1943 by the PAL Cutlery, USA; scarce uncut 16″-blade specimen in rare UNUSED condition.  A scarce type in general – PAL manufactured a relatively small number of 250,00 M1905s in early 1943 but by spring of the same year most of the original M1905 bayonets were cut-down to 10-inch blade and were re-furbished as the “short pattern” bayonets often referred to as M1942. Uncut WW2 era M1905 bayonets are hard to come by nowadays, especially in unused condition.

This is a well-made bayonet with crisp lines and a well-defined edge; ricasso is weakly stamped PAL / US “flaming bomb”/ 1943 on one side. The bayonet looks unused; bayonet release catch is still covered in rust-preventing cosmoline; original factory edge is very sharp still; the tip is intactit’s in better than average condition for the type. No typical ding marks on the spine or muzzle ring; the pommel is in excellent shape as well with no contact marks. Black plastic handle grips are in great condition; all handle parts are tight with no play. The scabbard/bayonet release mechanism is excellent and 100% functional. The bayonet is about 20-1/2″ / 52 cm overall; the blade is about 15-7/8″ / 40.5 cm. Original “long” composition scabbard with MK1-marked steel throat is in great condition; no chips or cracks; all parts are tight. The underside plate is marked B-N/9. Steel throat is marked US “flaming bomb”. Overall, WW2 PAL M1905 bayonet is in very much serviceable condition still. A desirable and highly collectible type; VERY rare this nice.

This scarce uncut WW2 PAL M1905 bayonet has not been cleaned or tampered with in any way, it’s in 100% original condition; these are the actual photos. Garand clips are not included with the lot 😉 I have several scarce WW1 and WW2 bayonets, fighting knives, daggers and trench knives available for sale – please take a look in our Militaria section.
