Early WW2 Model 1929 Sedgley Signal Pistol made by Lake Erie Chemical Co in Cleveland OH. Great condition overall; mechanically excellent.
Original pre-WW2 era manufacture Sedgley Model 1929 Signal Pistol manufactured by Lake Erie Chemical Co. This is the overly-complex removable steel barrel pre-war type; when WW2 started it was quickly phased-out in favor of cheaper and easier-to-manufacture Sedgley Mark 5 Signal Pistol. Not too many of the earlier specimens survived.
This flare pistol is used but it’s in better than average condition; all original parts, mechanically excellent; a few typical scuff marks are noted for accuracy. The 10-gage removable barrel is about 4-1/4″ / 10/6 cm; most of the original bluing is intact; there is a small chip on the plastic near the trigger and a scratch on the butt of the handle. Serial number on the underside of the barrel is 2283; matching serial on the barrel too. Not cleaned or tempered with; scarce this nice – what’ left of this early type is in pretty rough shape; a lot of these M1929 flare guns have mismatched and pitted barrels or have been polished or cleaned to a semi-white condition.
This WW2 Model 1929 Sedgley Signal Pistol flare gun is not a “firearm” under US law and needs no FFL to transfer or own; this WW-2 era flare gun is obsolete; its spare parts and flares are no longer made. This type is never to be tried with regular 10-gage shotgun ammunition – these flare guns were designed only for shooting low-pressure flare cartridges and are likely going to disintegrate if tried with the modern ammo. That would be very dangerous, as well as illegal.
We have a few more WW2 era flare guns coming up for sale, plus several scarce WW2 fighting daggers and WW1 trench knives available for sale immediately – please take a look in our Militaria section. This WW2 US Navy Signal Pistol Mark 5 flare gun has not been cleaned or tampered with in any way, 100% original condition; these are the actual photos; spent brass is not included with the lot 😉
