Original WW2 era American fighting knife manufactured by Kinfolks Cutlery in Little Valley, NY. This is a mid-war production type with the iron pommel and cross-guard – by that point in the war “strategic” metals like aluminum and bronze were restricted to the “essential war effort” equipment production. As the war progressed, Kinfolks had to phase out the use of aluminum due to the wartime ban on the use of the strategic metals. As soon as the “old stock” of aluminum parts was depleted, Kinfolks had switched to steel and even Bakelite pommels on all of their WW2 knives. A similar Kinfolks late-war manufacture type with than-standard Bakelite fittings is illustrated on page 166 of the KNIVES OF THE UNITED STATES MILITARY WORLD WAR II book by Michael W Silvey – a well-established expert and author of many books on the subject of US military edged weapons (see the page’s scan attached).

The knife is about 10-3/8″ / 26.4 cm overall; fullered blade is a bit shy of 6″ / 15 cm long; the edge is very sharp still; the tip is intact. Stacked leather washers handle with iron pommel and cross-guard. The handle is solid; all parts are tight with no play. Original Kinfolks-marked leather scabbard is in very good overall condition, considering the age. Initials A.V.C. are scratched on the back; all original rivets and keeper are intact; a small cut at the throat is noted for accuracy; the leather is soft and supple still. With proper care this WW2 Kinfolks fighting knife will last you another 80 years 😉

This attractive WW2 Kinfolks fighting knife has not been cleaned or tampered with in any way, the set is in 100% original “as is” condition; this type is rare in unused condition. These are the actual photos; spent brass is not included with the knife ? I have a few more WW2 US-made bayonets, as well as some scarce WW1 and WW2 era fighting daggers and trench knives made in the US, Great Britain, France, Germany, and other countries available for sale – please take a look in the Militaria section.
