Description

WW2 Ka-Bar USMC MK2 fighting knife with unique hand-finished wood handle, original leather scabbard included. Very interesting one-of-a-kind fighter with a nice personal touch.

Very interesting and certainly one of a kind WW2 era MK2 fighting knife that was completely “re-dressed” with a custom hand-made wood handle. The original blade belonged to the USMC-designated Mark 2 fighting knife manufactured by Ka-Bar (Union Cutlery in Olean, NY). The original stacked leather washers and the early-type “screwed-on” steel pommel handle have been replaced with nicely-checkered exotic wood handle scales. The handle looks like a solid piece of wood, but it’s its actually a “split type” handle made of two separate pieces of woof expertly fitted together – the knife maker was certainly a top-level craftsman as this is not an easy nor a simple task. The standard-issue iron guard was retained; the pommel was re-pinned and polished over. New parts are of excellent overall quality with a perfect fit; the handle looks great and provides a very comfortable grip. The handle is solid; all parts are tight with no play.

The blade is a bit pitted; it has been re-sharpened and it is very sharp still; the tip is intact. This MK2 is about 11-7/8” / 30 cm overall; the blade is about 6-3/4” / 17.2 cm long. No edge nicks or dings on the spine or the pommel; this unique fighter is in very good overall shape, considering the age. An interesting one-of-a-kind WW2 era “theater knife” with a lot of character; it will be a great addition to any collection!

This original WW2 Ka-Bar USMC Mk2 fighting knife has not been cleaned or tampered with in any way; it is in 100% original “as is” condition. These are the actual photos; Garand clips are not included with the knife 😉 I have a few more WW2 era combat knives and bayonets, scarce WW1 and WW2 fighting daggers and trench knives from other countries available for sale – please take a look in our Militaria section.
