Description

WW2 Case fighting knife, leather washers handle, original leather scabbard. Rare “private purchase” type fighter in great overall condition, considering the age.

Rare WW2 era Case’s Tested XX “private purchase” fighting knife – Case manufactured these handy and inexpensive fighters during the war to fill the ever-growing need for fighting blades. Simple iron-capped pommels were used extensively to conserve the much-needed aluminum and expedite the wartime production. This exact type is illustrated on page 91 of the KNIVES OF THE UNITED STATES MILITARY WORLD WAR II book by Michael W. Silvey – a well-established expert an author of many books on the subject of US military edged weapons (see the page’s photo attached).

This fighting knife is about 8-3/4” / 22.2 cm overall; flat-ground blade is about 4-7/8″ / 12.5 cm. The blade has been polished and re-sharpened; it is very sharp still; the tip is intact. Curved iron double-guard; the pommel is a simple iron-capped leather washers type. The handle is solid; all part are tight with no play; ricasso is sharply stamped CASE on one side. Original leather scabbard is in great overall condition, considering the age. All rivets the keeper are intact, the leather is soft and supple; some stitching loss near the tip is noted for accuracy. This WW2 Case fighting knife has not been cleaned or tampered with in any way, it is in 100% original “as is” condition. These are the actual photos; spent brass is not included with the lot 😉
