Vintage SMITH & WESSON model #6060 Folding Hunter designed for S&W by the famous Knifemakers Guild founding member late Walter “Blackie” Collins. This is the 1st generation Hunter; proudly made in the 1970th in the US. Model 6060 is a superb full-size folder of excellent overall quality. Circa 1980-1981 S&W produced 1000 serial-numbered knives for the American Police Marksman Association 5th anniversary. Original order price at the time was $89 – a lot of money back in 1980! This specimen’s serial is 0397 – it is finely etched on the blade; original hardwood presentation case with soft interior is included. The “overall” production serial number is stamped on the interior brass liner (this knife’s SN is 40709).
The knife is about 8″ / 20.3 cm overall opened; mirror-polished 440 stainless steel blade is about 3-1/2″ / 9 cm. Moisture-resistant Wessonwood handle scales with round S&W medallion inlay on one side are excellent. Bolsters and pins are polished nickel-silver; all parts are tight with zero play. This vintage US-made American Police Marksman Association issue Smith Wesson 6060 Folding Hunter is in excellent overall condition.
