Original 1950s South Korean Armed Forces bayonet made from repurposed US-made WW2 era M1 bayonets. The refit was done in the South Korean Republic by cutting-down the blade to the M5 blade size and grinding the blade down so it would fit into the M8 type scabbard. Most of these “Korean retrofit” bayonets were paired with US-issued M8A1 scabbards. Original Korean-made scabbards are scarce, especially in unused condition.
This specimen is in unused condition with original Parkerized finish that was re-applied after the retrofit. The bayonet is about 11-1/8″ / 28.2 cm overall; the blade is about 6-1/2″ / 16.5 cm long. Bayonet release mechanism is in perfect working order; al parts and tight with no play. Original black plastic grips are in excellent condition bit one side has a small chip on the spine. The handle is tight with zero play.
Original M8 style composition scabbard is in practically unused condition with just a few tiny pock marks on plastic on the front panel. The The scabbard is completely unmarked; the webbing is excellent; all original stitching is intact. This Korean War M1 Garand bayonet has not been cleaned or tampered with in any way. It is in 100% original “as purchased” condition.
