Jodhpur City Princess Wedding fighting dagger – WW2 era Middle Eastern fighting knife pattern. Jodhpur Volunteer Corps 1950 knuckleduster fighting knife, original leather scabbard. Rare knuckle fighter type in great overall condition, considering the age.
This rare knife was issued as a commemorate sidearm for the Jodhpur City Princess wedding on April 22nd, 1950. The special occasion was the wedding of 19-year-old Prince Karam Singh, heir to the Maharaja of Kashmir and 16-year-old Princess Yashorajya Lakshmi, the granddaughter of the hereditary Premier of Nepal.
This Jodhpur Volunteer Corps 1950 knuckleduster fighting knife was based on the original WW2 era “Middle-Eastern Commando” style design illustrated in the number of books on the subject of WW2 edged weapons – see book’s scans attached. This specimen’s dual-edge blade is tampered steel; the “death head” knuckleduster handle is bronze fixed to the blade with 2 large rivets; all parts are solid with no play. The dagger is about 11-1/4″ / 28.58 cm overall; the blade is very sharp still, the tip is intact. Original nickel plating is worn off in several places – see photos. Original leather scabbard is in excellent condition for the type. The throat is intact with no typical cuts or “puncture wounds” at the tip; original keeper is intact – this type is rare this nice.
