Description
Italy WW1 M1891 Carcano bayonet, original all-metal scabbard and leather frog included. Fare condition overall, considering the age.
Original WW1 era Italian bayonet for Modello 91 Carcano bolt-action rifle; manufactured by Terni Arsenal; serial numbers are stamped on the cross guard. The bayonet comes with correct late-WW1 era metal scabbard and leather frog. The M1891 was widely used during WW1 but it was pressed into service during the Italian invasion of Ethiopia, as well as WW2. This bayonet well-used but it is in 100% serviceable condition still.
The bayonet is about 16-1/4” / 41.2 cm overall; the blade is about 11-3/4″ / 29.9 cm long. The blade has some light pitting near the tip; it has been re-sharpened. Original wood grips are in fare condition with some contact marks but no cracks or chips. The bayonet’s release button is in working order; the pommel has a number of contact marks. Ricasso is stamped TERNI on one side and ME inspector’s stamp on the other. The scabbard is nice and tight; all parts are intact. The frog is in great shape; the leather is soft and supple still.
This original WW1 era-issue Italy WW1 M1891 Carcano bayonet and its original scabbard are in 100% serviceable condition still. Don’t miss your chance to add it to your collection! I have a few more Italian and German knives/bayonets, as well as some scarce WW2 and WW1 fighting knives, daggers, trench knives and bayonets available for sale – please take a look in the Militaria section.
