Description

Wilkinson Sword Fairbairn-Sykes dagger Battle of the Bulge blued and 24K gold-plated blade commemorative issue made in 1986 for The American Historical Foundation. Rare limited edition run of 2500 with original presentation box, COA and papers included.

This is the post-war limited edition run of the classic WW2 era British 2nd pattern Fairbairn Sykes fighting dagger manufactured by Wilkinson Sword Company to the original WW2 era specs. The 1986 limited run for The American Historical Foundation (AHF) was limited to just 2500 daggers of each type (there were 6 commemorative FS daggers in total).  These were some of the last high-quality FS daggers Wilkinson produced before Wilkinson Sword wrapped-up and was sold to Fiskars. The stunning polished and deeply blued blade is finely scroll-etched and plated with 24K gold; the guard, and bronze handle are gold-plated as well. AHF issued just 2500 serial-numbered Victory in Europe FS daggers; this specimen’s serial number is 2108 – tiny numbers are hand-engraved on ricasso. The dagger comes with the original blue velvet-lined display case, matching COA, a short story behind the famous “Nuts” Butttle of the Bulge episode, copy of the “Patton prayer”, care instructions, and the original-owner The American Historical Foundation shipping box. This commemorative dagger issue was sold without a scabbard.

The dagger is about 11-7/8” / 30 cm overall; the blade is about 6-7/8″ / 17.5 cm; it has not been re-sharpened, original edge; the tip is intact. Solid bronze handle and guard are 24K gold-plated; all parts are tight with zero play; all original gold plating is intact. Mirror-polished and deeply-etched blade with 24K gold filled engravings on both sides. Ricasso is engraved with Wilkinson Sword logo, just like on the original WW2 era issue. Rare limited addition issue of the famous WW2 era FS fighting knife. This rare commemorative Wilkinson Sword Fairbairn-Sykes dagger Battle of the Bulge specimen will make an excellent addition to any collection.

This limited addition Wilkinson Sword Fairbairn-Sykes dagger Battle of the Bulge issue has not been cleaned or tampered with in any way, it is in 100% original “as is” condition. These are the actual photos; spent brass is not included with the lot ?  I have a few more British-made knives & daggers, several fighting knives made from converted sabers, as well as some scarce WW1 and WW2 fighting daggers and trench knives available for sale – please take a look in our Militaria section.
