Germany Westphalia 1923 5 Million Marks gilt bronze notgeld coin. Very attractive specimen in rare Brilliant Uncirculated condition with original mint luster. FREE SHIPPING WITHIN THE U.S. FOR THIS ITEM.
Post-WW1 German “hardship years” era large 5 Million Marks notgeld coin issued by Westphalia state in 1923. “Notgeld” literally means “emergency money”; many German states and cities had to issue this type of large-denomination substitute “coins” and paper notgeld bills to compensate for the shortage of regular coins and banknotes during post-WW1 hyper-inflation years. The National Bank simply could not print the sufficient amount of currency fast enough.
This is a very attractive specimen in rare Brilliant Uncirculated condition; a couple of minor spots are noted for accuracy. Most of the original mint luster is intact; the coin is about 44.6 mm in diameter; about 32.2 grams; plain rim; this is the more desirable gilt bronze alloy type. Very attractive specimen with original “honey gold” luster throughout.
This ever-popular Germany Westphalia 1923 5 Million Marks notgeld coin type is the only sure way to become a millionaire overnight – don’t miss your chance! The coin has not been cleaned or tampered with in any way; these are the actual photos. See our European Coins section for the additional German coins, tokens and medals.
