Description

Germany 1928 W33 Bremen silver medal commemorating 1st Europe-to-America flight; scarce early aviation commemorative. Rare Proof in original mint box, guaranteed to be 100% authentic.

Rare commemorative silver medal struck in 1928 to mark the 1st Europe-to-America airplane flight; the 1928 Ireland-to-North America flight was a major achievement at the time. The aircraft was Junkers model W33 named Bremen; it was piloted by German pilots Baron Von Hunefeld and Hermann Kohl, Irish Major James M. Fitzmaurice was the navigator. The crew had to navigate most of the flight with nothing but a just few rudimentary instruments. Eventually, the plane made it to the Canadian territory where it crash-landed in the bog; the crew survived but the plane was damaged and had to be abandoned on site (it has been restored and placed in a museum since).

A fairly accurate portrayal of Junkers W33 Bremen is depicted flying over ocean waves on obverse; legends on reverse. Scarce Proof strike specimen with original light-gray patina; rare original mint-issue box is included.  The medal is about 35.9 mm in diameter; 24.9 grams; inscription on the rim reads PREUSS. STAATSMUNZE SILBER 900 SILBER FEIN (Prussian State Mint silver .900 Fine in German). Early aviation medals are very collectible and highly though-after by many collectors. A scarce “aviation type” medal in excellent condition; don’t miss your chance to add it to your collection! I have another “Bremen flight” medal also issued in 1928 but by the famous medalist Karl Goetz – please take a look.

This rare original Germany 1928 W33 Bremen silver medal Europe-America flight silver medal is not a later reproduction or a copy; it is guaranteed to be 100% authentic or your money back. Not cleaned; these are the actual photos. Don’t miss your chance to add this attractive vintage airship memorabilia to your collection!
