Scarce City of Frankfurt 1848 1-year type issue struck to commemorate Archduke Johann of Austria election as Vicar. Only 36,000 were struck; this issue is hard-to-find in better grades. This specimen is in excellent condition for the type with attractive dark-gray patina; a couple of minor hairlines on obverse are noted for accuracy. About 36.1 mm in diameter, about 21.1 grams; inscription on the rim. Not cleaned, polished, or otherwise messed around with; these are the actual photos.
