Very interesting WW1 era British fighting knife made from the British Pattern 1907 “long” bayonet; comes with the original scabbard and frog included. The handle is two strips of hardened leather pined with 3 iron pins. One handle is stamped PATENT 3201 / 1915 on one side; I’ve seen this type just a couple of times in the last 20 years; the original production numbers must’ve been pretty small. Looks like the Brits did not mind re-purposing old bayonet blades; I have a similar WW2 era British fighting knife manufactured from the stockpile of the older WW1 era “long” bayonets; please take a look.
This is a solid, well-made fighter; the blade passes through the D-guard to form a handle; its a pretty simple but practical knife. Looks like it hasn’t been used much – the edge is factory unsharpened; the tip is intact; most of the original bluing remaining. The knife is about 11” / 28 cm overall; blued blade is about 6-7/8” / 17.5 cm long; the knife is solid. The guard with 4 riveted iron spikes is made from a single steel band; the guard has a tiny bit of a play as it is not welded to the blade. Original brown leather scabbard with metal fittings is the standard Pattern 1907 scabbard shortened to fit this fighter. The scabbard and web frog are great condition, considering the age. All original stitching and staples are intact; inspector’s acceptance stamp GA on the metal tip. This is an unusual and scarce WW1 era fighting knife with a lot of character; it will be a great addition to any collection!
This rare British WW1 1915 fighting knife has not been cleaned or tampered with in any way; it is in 100% original “as is” condition; these are the actual photos. We have more WW2 British and American fighting knives, as well as several scarce WW1 and WW2 fighting daggers, bayonets and trench knives available for sale – please take a look in our Militaria section.
