Description

WW2 USMC Ka-Bar Mk2 fighting knife with unusual well-decorated wood handle and handmade wood scabbard. Very interesting and certainly one-of-a-kind fighter with a personal touch.

Very interesting and certainly one of a kind WW2 era MK2 fighting knife completely “re-dressed” with a custom wood handle and scabbard. The original blade belonged to USMC-designated Mark 2 fighting knife manufactured by Ka-Bar (Union Cutlery in Olean, NY). The original stacked leather washers and steel pommel handle have been replaced with a fancy polished hardwood handle nicely decorated with nickel and brass pins. The standard-issue iron guard was also replaced with a what looks like a machine-cut piece of polished bronze. New parts are of excellent overall quality and perfect fit; the handle looks great and provides a very comfortable grip. The hardwood-and-brass pins scabbard is also very well-made; it looks great but the blade is a bit loose inside.

The blade has been polishes brigh-white; it is razor-sharp still; the tip is intact. The handle is solid; all parts are tight with no play. This MK2 is about 12-1/4” / 31 cm overall; the blade is about 7” / 17.8 cm long. No edge nicks or dings on the spine; the blade is in excellent shape, considering the age. An interesting one-of-a-kind WW2 era “theater knife” with a lot of character; it will be a great addition to any collection!

This WW2 USMC Ka-Bar Mk2 fighting knife has not been cleaned or tampered with in any way; it is in 100% original “as is” condition; these are the actual photos. We have more WW2 American fighting knives, as well as several scarce WW1 and WW2 fighting daggers, bayonets and trench knives available for sale – please take a look in our Militaria section.
