WW2 theater-dressed M3 trench knife/M4 bayonet blade fighting knife, original M8A1 composition scabbard; great overall condition, considering the age.
Original WW2 era theater fighting dagger/trench knife with M3/M4 blade, “theater-dressed” with handmade fancy non-regulation bronze fittings & leather washers handle. This well-made fighter is about 11-1/4” / 28.5 cm overall; the blade is about 6-1/2″ / 16.5 cm. The blade has minimal wear; the edge has been gently re-sharpened, it is razor-sharp still; the tip is intact. Stacked leather washers handle with a solid bronze guard and a round bronze pommel; all washers are tight; the guard has a tiny bit of a play. Original M8A1 composition scabbard manufactured by Victory Plastics – a division of Beckwith Manufacturing Company – marked US M8A1 / V.P. CO. on the throat; top plate underside is marked VP/2. The scabbard is used but it is in better than average condition for the type.
Overall, this WW2 theater-dressed M3 trench knife / M8A1 scabbard set is in 100% serviceable condition still; important WW2 era “theater” fighter will be a great addition to any collection. This one-of-a-kind WW2 theater-dressed M3 trench knife and original M8A1 scabbard have not been cleaned or tampered with in any way; the set is in 100% original “as is” condition. These are the actual photos; spent brass is not is not included with the lot 😉
