WW2 Robeson ShurEdge MK1 wood pommel type utility/fighting knife, original leather scabbard included. Great set in rare unused condition – VERY rare this nice.

Original WW2 era US Navy Mark I Utility knife manufactured by Robeson Cutlery as No. 20 Utility model.  This type is illustrated on pages 9 and 10 in KNIVES OF THE UNITED STATES MILITARY WORLD WAR II book by Michael W. Silvey – a well-established expert an author of many books on the subject of US military edged weapons (see the pages’ scans attached). This is the war-time era production wood-pommel MK1. Later in the war Robeson began manufacturing these knives with hardwood pommels instead of aluminum due to the wartime ban on the use of strategic metals for the “non-essential” products. Although this type is not particularly scarce, it is VERY hard to find in unused condition with all parts intact – these wood-pommeled MK1s were used as intended and did not last very long in the field.

This Mark I is about 9-7/8″ / 25.2 cm overall; the blade is about 5-1/4″ / 13.3 cm. The blade has not been re-sharpened; original factory edge is razor-sharp; the tip is intact; no typical nicks or dings on the spine. Stacked leather washers handle with wood pommel and steel double- guard. All parts are tight with no play.  Ricasso is stamped ROBESON ShurEdge / No.20 on one side, U.S.N. on the other. Original war-time leather scabbard is in minty condition as well; the leather is soft and supple still; rare this nice.

This original WW2 Robeson ShurEdge MK1 wood pommel type utility/fighting knife has not been cleaned or tampered with in any way, 100% original “as is” condition. These are the actual photos; spent brass is not included with the knife 😉 I have a few more vintage European knives, as well as WW2 era combat knives and bayonets, scarce WW1 and WW2 fighting daggers and trench knives from other countries available for sale – please take a look in our Militaria section.
