WW2 Marbles 8-inch blade Ideal fighting knife, custom-made leather scabbard. Huge WWII fighter in great overall condition, considering the age; rare type.

Original WW2 era MARBLE’S IDEAL model with a massive 8-inch long blade, wide bronze double-hilt, and custom-made leather scabbard; proudly made in Gladstone, Michigan, USA. Marble’s was one of the best US makers of hunting knives, axes and other outdoor gear since 1898. With the onset of WW2 Marble’s had quickly adapted to the new market and begun manufacturing a “militarized” double-hilt Ideal model in various blade sizes that were better suited for the needs of the American servicemen. The demand for the much-needed fighting knives early in the war was high; many GIs had privately purchased Marble’s knives and carried them through every major WW2 theater.

This particular Marble’s fighting knife type is illustrated on page 180 of the KNIVES OF THE UNITED STATES MILITARY WORLD WAR II book by Michael W. Silvey – a well-established expert an author of many books on the subject of US military edged weapons (see the page’s photo attached).

This large Ideal is slightly used; it’s in better than average condition for the type. This big boy is about 12-1/2″ / 31.7 cm overall; extra-thick blade is about 7-7/8″ / 20 cm. The blade is razor-sharp still; the tip is intact; vintage 2-line Marble’s logo on ricasso (serif in letter A is pointing left – the blade was made pre-WW2). Stacked leather washes handle with brass and red-n-black fiber spacers. Aluminum “large nut” pommel and bronze double-hilt guard; the handle is tight; the guard is solid with no play. The scabbard is not original Marble’s made type but a contemporary custom made to fit the knife. It holds the knife nice and tight; this is a high-quality sheath; certainly made by someone who new his trade well. All original stitching is intact; the leather is soft and supple still. Overall, this huge WW2 Marbles 8-inch blade Ideal fighting knife is in 100% serviceable condition still; don’t miss your chance to add it to your collection!

This original WW2 Marbles 8-inch blade Ideal fighting knife has not been cleaned or tampered with in any way, 100% original condition; these are the actual photos. Spent brass is not included with the knife 😉 Please don’t forget to check out our Militaria section for other WW1 and WW2 era combat knives, including German WW1 era trench knives, vintage USAF WW2 Pilot Knives and a couple of rare WW2 “OSS Drop” knives we offer for sale.
