Description
WW2 Germany Luftwaffe fighting knife LUFTWAFFEN-KAMPFMESSER boot dagger, original “spring leaf” metal scabbard; excellent overall condition, considering the age.
Hard-to-fine original WW2 era German “LUFTWAFFEN-KAMPFMESSER” German Air Force fighting knife with original all-metal “boot carry” scabbard. Excellent shape overall; this Germany WW2 Luftwaffe fighting knife is in 100% serviceable condition still. This exact type is illustrated on pages 246-247, as well as in the center of the title page of the excellent French reference book Knives and Daggers-Bayonets Used by the German Army During 1914-1945 by Christian Mary (see the book’s scans attached).
This fighting knife is about 11-1/4” / 28.5 cm overall; the blade is about 6-5/8” / 17 cm long. The blade is stamped with Luftwaffe “eagle 5” proof mark on ricasso. The blade in in great shape with no pitting but it looks cleaned to me. No edge nicks or dings on the spine; the tip is intact. Hardwood handle scales are in great shape with no typical nicks or chips; the handguard is nice and firm; all parts are tight with no play. Original metal scabbard with the classic “leaf spring” for boot carry is in great shape; the internal blade spring is tight and holds the blade well. Original black finish on the scabbard is about 70% intact – this type is rare this nice.
Almost 80 years later this original WW2 Germany Luftwaffe fighting knife is in 100% serviceable condition still – this type is VERY hard to find this nice and complete. In general, most of Luftwaffen-Kampfmessers were used in the field as intended; specimens in better grades are hard to find nowadays – this WW2 Germany Luftwaffe fighting knife will be a great addition to any collection – don’t miss your chance!
I’m selling this item on a consignment; a reserve price has been set by the seller. This attractive original WW2 Germany Luftwaffe fighting knife has not been cleaned or tampered with in any way, it is in 100% original “as is” condition. These are the actual photos; K98 clips are not included with the knife 😉
