Description

WW2 Germany Leuchtpistole 34 signal pistol manufactured by ERMA Werke in 1940. Original finish throughout; mechanically excellent with crisp action – these early WW2 models are hard to find this nice.

Original WW2 era German Heer (Army) Leuchtpistole 34 model 26.5 mm flare gun. Carl Walter had came up with the original design; the first series were made by Walther but as WW2 broke out Leuchtpistole 34 was manufactured by two other makers till about 1942. This lightweight “no-snag” signal pistol was a major improvement in comparison to large and clunky German WW1 era flare guns. Leuchtpistole 34 was well-received by the German troops which relied heavily on the use of flares for signaling and communication. This is an excellent early-wear example with all original parts and finish; it was made in 1940 by Erfurter Maschinenfabrik (ERMA) Werke the frame is stamped ERMA-ERFURT / 1940 on one side, along with a bunch of waffenamt stamps on every possible part. It’s an early WW2 model without the round-in-chamber indicator on the breach.

This specimen is in excellent overall condition – no dents on the barrel or the frame (most of the parts are made of aircraft aluminum alloy); the bore is nice and clean with no pitting; all original parts; matching serials; the action is nice and crisp. The spur and trigger assembly still has it’s factory bluing;  original lanyard ring is intact; some minor surface rust on iron parts is noted for accuracy. Original black finish throughout with just a few minor scratches. Not a super-rare type but Leuchtpistole 34 is scarce in better grades, especially for an early-war model. All parts are tight with no play; this specimen is only slightly used and is mechanically excellent – rare as such.

This type is never to be tried with “regular” or shotgun ammunition  – these aluminum alloy flare guns were designed only for shooting low-pressure flare cartridges only and are likely going to disintegrate if tried with modern ammo; that would illegal as well. This scarce early WW2 Germany Leuchtpistole 34 signal pistoll has not bee cleaned or tempered with; scarce in such authentic condition. This original WW2 Germany Leuchtpistole 34 signal pistol will be a great addition to any collection.

This original WW2 Germany Leuchtpistole 34 signal pistol-flare gun is not a “firearm” under US law and needs no FFL to transfer or own; this WW-2 era flare gun is obsolete; its spare parts are no longer made. I have a few more WW1 and WW2 era flare guns coming up for sale, plus several scarce WW2 fighting daggers and WW1 trench knives available for sale immediately – please take a look in our Militaria section.  This WW2 Germany Leuchtpistole 34 signal pistol is in 100% original “as is” condition; these are the actual photos.
