WW2 fighting knife Krag bayonet conversion fighter, original hand-made leather scabbard included. Scarce  type in great overall condition, considering the age.

An interesting WW2 era American fighting knife made from a much older Spanish-American War era Krag rifle bayonet. This bayonet-turned-fighting-knife type was produced by an unknown manufacturer early in the war in order to satisfy the demand for the much-needed fighting knives. This exact type is illustrated on page 284 of THE MILITARY KNIFE & BAYONET book by Homer M. Brett – a well-established expert and the author of a number of books on the subject of the US military edged weapons (see book’s page scan attached).

This is a somewhat crude but very practical knife; it is used, but it’s in very good condition overall. Well-honed blade is razor-sharp still; the tip is intact; all parts are tight with no play. The knife is about 10-3/4″ / 27.3 cm overall; the blade is about 6-1/8″ / 15.5 cm. All original markings on the ricasso have been removed. Original walnut grips are nice and tight; muzzle ring and bayonet release mechanism have been removed. The groove in the pommel is filled with lead for extra weight, I guess. Original WW2 era leather scabbard with an integral keeper is in very good shape, considering the age; the leather is soft and supple still. This interesting WW2 fighting knife Krag bayonet conversion dagger will be a great addition to any collection.

This interesting WW2 fighting knife Krag bayonet conversion fighter has not been cleaned or tampered with in any way, it’s in 100% original “as is” condition. These are the actual photos; spent brass is not included with the knife 😉 I have more WW2 era combat knives and bayonets, scarce WW1 and WW2 fighting daggers and trench knives from other countries available for sale – please take a look in our Militaria section.
