Description

WW2 CASE Pig Sticker fighting knife; early jigged bone handle type. Original WWII production “spear tip” leather sheath. Ex-Roger Ballard collection; personal hand-drawn ID card is included.

Rare early WW2 Case’s Tested XX “pig sticker” private purchase fighting dagger with jigged bone handle scales and original leather scabbard; made circa 1932-1940 made by W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery in Bradford, Pennsylvania. Provenance: formerly from a personal collection of Roger Ballard, who hand-made individual display cards to accompany each knife in his collection.  The dagger comes with the hand-drawn knife identification collection card dated 2015 and signed R.Ballard. The hand-drawn collection card will accompany this knife to the new owner.

This “bone scales pig sticker” type is VERY hard to find these days – Case used jigged bone for handles very early in the war; all later “pig stickers” had wood handles to expedite the wartime production. This type is illustrated on page 94 of the KNIVES OF THE UNITED STATES MILITARY WORLD WAR II book by Michael W. Silvey – a well-established expert an author of many books on the subject of US military edged weapons (see the page’s photo attached).

This dagger is about 10-3/5” / 26.3 cm overall; carbon steel blade is about 6-3/8″ / 16.2 cm. Full-tang construction; ricasso is stamped with the “square” CASE logo on one side. Very attractive burnt bone handle scales with bronze pins; one side was chipped and repaired. The blade is razor-sharp still; the tip is intact. Original WW2 era “spear point” leather scabbard is in good overall condition, considering the age; all stitching is intact, large scratch on the front panel is noted for accuracy. This WW2 era CASE dagger has not been cleaned or tampered with in any way, 100% original condition; these are the actual photos; spent brass is not included with the lot 😉

This early WW2 CASE Pig Sticker fighting knife with scarce jigged bone handle scales is VERY hard to come by these days as very few “bone handle” pig stickers were made to begin with. Great WW2 era “non-regulation” US fighting knife with a lot of character; you will not be disappointed!
