Description

WW2 CAMILLUS nut pommel MK2 Fighting Knife USN-designated blued blade, original early issue all-leather scabbard. Rare slightly used condition; VERY hard to find this nice.

Original WW2 era rare 1st model of the famous US Navy Mark 2 “Ka-Bar” fighting knife (the link is a courtesy of Wikipedia) manufactured early in the war by Camillus Cutlery in Camillus, New York. MK2 is a classic American WW2 era fighting knife; this type was used in combat by the US Army and the Navy men alike in all theaters of the War. This is extremely hard to find early CAMILLUS “treaded nut” pommel MK2 – these were manufactured for a VERY short time in limited quantities. The “treaded nut” pommel design was proved to fail under stress and was quickly discontinued. This scarce fighting knife is in mega rare unused condition; the blade still has most of its original finish; the edge is razor-sharp; the tip is intact.

Ricasso is stamped CAMILLUS, N.Y. on one side, U.S.N. on the other; the guard is unmarked, as it should be for this type. Leather washers “fat handle” with heavy round pommel and slightly curved guard; all parts are tight with no play. The knife is about 12″ / 30.3 cm overall; blued blade is about 6-3/4″ /17.2 cm. The blade, including the “false” upper edge, is RAZOR-sharp still; the tip is intact. Rare early WW2 issue all-leather scabbard is GI-initialed ORM on the front and back with some ineligible writing below the initials.  Original keeper with brass snaps is intact and supple; all original rivets and stitching are intact. Overall, this scabbard is in better-than-average condition; the leather is soft and supple still – these early scabbards are rare this nice. This rare first model “nut pommel” MK2 fighting knife and original leather scabbard are in 100% serviceable condition, nearly 80 years after it was made.

During the war most of MK2s were used in the field as intended; these early MK2s are VERY hard to find – a rare find and a great addition to any collection. This early MK2 set is in excellent overall condition and SUPER rare as such these days – today most of the surviving 1st model “nut pommel” MK2 fighting knives are in private collections & rarely come up for sale. This attractive WW2 CAMILLUS nut pommel MK2 Fighting Knife has not been cleaned or tampered with in any way, it is in 100% original “as is” condition. These are the actual photos.
