Description

WW2 Camillus Pilot Knife signed original scabbard: FT. WORH TEX. LEONARD SANDLIN. Interesting fighting knife in great overall condition, considering the age.

Scarce American WW2 era US Army/Navy Pilot Knife made by CAMILLUS CUTLERY with original leather scabbard; “oval logo” type. These handy 5-inch blade knives were issued to the American aircrews during WW2 as an all-purpose knife in case of a bail-out.  During the war a relatively small order of “pilot knives” was placed with Camillus; these Pilot Knives are scarce in good condition these days. This exact type is illustrated on page 85 of the KNIVES OF THE UNITED STATES MILITARY WORLD WAR II book by Michael W Silvey – a well-established expert an author of many books on the subject of US military edged weapons (see the book’s page scan attached).

This WW2 Camillus Pilot Knife and original leather sheath are in very good condition overall. The carbon steel blade with “blood grooves” is in great shape, considering the age. The blade has been re-sharpened; it is razor-sharp still; the tip is intact.  Stacked leather washers handle with red-black-n-bronze spacers, bronze guard and an aluminum pommel. All handle parts are tight with no play. The knife is about 9-1/4″ / 23.5 cm overall; the blade is about 5″ /12.7 cm long. The original brown leather scabbard is stamped in bold large letters with the GI’s name and home town: FT. WORH TEX. LEONARD SANDLIN. The scabbard is better than average condition, considering the age;  all original rivets are present; most of the stitching is intact; original keeper is nice and tight. This original WW2 era knife has not been cleaned or tampered with in any way, 100% original condition; these are the actual photos.

This attractive WW2 Camillus Pilot Knife signed leather scabbard have not been cleaned or tampered with in any way, it’s in 100% original “as is” condition. These are the actual photos; spent brass is not included with the lot 😉 We have a few more American, British, Commonwealth, and German WW2 era combat knives and bayonets, as well as several scarce WW1 and WW2 fighting daggers and trench knives from other countries available for sale – please take a look in our Militaria section.
