Original WW2 American theater-made fighting knife with unusual “lucky dice” pommel handle and blued 7.5″ bayonet blade; great overall condition, considering the age. Very interesting and certainly one-of-a-kind WWII fighter.

Very interesting and certainly one of a kind WW2 era fighting knife with the hand-crafted “lucky dice” pommel handle and a re-purposed bayonet blade. Looks like handle was made from whatever materials were on hand: stacked washers are made of aircraft plexiglass, aluminum, and what looks like rosewood spacers. The guard and fancy pommel are cut for solid pieces of aluminum.

The blade seems to be an old bayonet blade that was expertly machine-ground and re-blued. The overall quality of work is pretty high, considering this knife was probably made in the field shop. The edge is very nice with a clean and even grind, the elaborate hand-finished hilt has a perfect fit to the blade; all parts are tight with no play. My favorite part is the “lucky dice” pommel. It is perfectly symmetrical and artistically accomplished – it is a piece of art on its own. The knife is completely unmarked but it looks like it was made by a talented knifemaker. The spear-point blade is razor-sharp still; the tip is intact. The knife is about 11-3/4” / 30 cm overall; the blade is about 7-1/2” / 19 cm long. The scabbard did not survive. An interesting WW2 era “theater knife” with a lot of character; it will be a great addition to any collection!

This WW2 American theater-made fighting knife has not been cleaned or tampered with in any way; it is in 100% original “as is” condition; these are the actual photos.
