Original WW2 era American “theater” fighting knife made from whatever materials were available on hand – an aluminum handle seems to be machine-cut from a chunk of solid metal and hand-finished with a file; the blade almost looks like a WW1 era M1918 Trench knife; probably a re-purposed old file. The overall quality fit is excellent; all parts are tight with no play – not a small feat in the rudimentary field conditions. The dagger and its original custom-made leather scabbard are completely unmarked.
This interesting fighter is about 10-7/8″ / 27.7 cm overall; dual-edged blade is about 6-7/8″ / 17.5 cm; the blade is very sharp still; the tip is a bit rounded. Solid aluminum handle with an integral hilt was cut from a single chunk of metal. It’s nice and tight; the handle is solid with no play. Original leather scabbard was custom-made for the knife; the leather is soft and supple still; all stitching is intact; the bottom part of the snap for the keeper is missing (could be replaced as it was made from the WW2 era standard-issue gear fastener).
This one of a kind WW2 American theater-made fighting dagger has not been cleaned or tampered with in any way; it is in 100% original “as is” condition; these are the actual photos. I have more WW2 American fighting knives, as well as several scarce WW1 and WW2 fighting daggers, bayonets and trench knives available for sale – please take a look in our Militaria section.
