Description

WW2 American theater fighting knife with heavy 7.75-inch blade, bronze fittings handle, newer custom-made wood scabbard. Rare one-of a kind WWII Fighter in excellent condition, considering the age.

Original WW2 era American “theater-made” fighting knife made from whatever materials were available on hand. Probably ship-made by some talented sailor or a marine; the blade seems to be custom-finished from a chunk o spring steel; the handle is a combination of leather and metal washers with solid bronze fittings.

The overall quality of this unique but practical large fighter is actually pretty high. The fit and balance are excellent for such a large knife, finely-honed blade is super-sharp still. A  solid bronze pommel seems to be filed to shape by hand with the lug-nut well filled with molten lead. Bronze guard was expertly fitted and brazed to the blade – no small feat in the rudimentary field conditions. This interesting fighting knife is about 12-1/2″ / 31.7 cm overall; the blade is about 7-3/4″ / 19.8 cm, about 2-5/8″ / 6.6 cm wide; the blade is razor- sharp; the tip is intact. The scabbard appears to be a relatively new replacement; it is custom-made hardwood case with nylon cord wrapped around the top part. Original scabbard did not survive. This interesting and certainly one-of-a kind WW2 American theater fighting knife has not been cleaned or tampered with in any way; it is in 100% original “as is” condition. These are the actual photos; spent brass is not included with the knife 😉

I have more WW2 era American, British, Australian, New Zealand, and German fighting knives, as well as several scarce WW1 and WW2 fighting daggers, bayonets and trench knives available for sale – please take a look in the Militaria section.
