Description

WW2 American Collins No 128 machete dated 1941, huge 22-inch blade (MK1), early all-leather scabbard signed A.D. Cox Jr. and his serial number. Scarce type in rare UNUSED condition.

Original WW2 era US issue Mark I jungle machete with an early type all-leather scabbard – made by Collins & Company. The set is in rare unused condition – super-hard to find this nice as most of these handy tools were used as intended. This type was used to cut through jungle vegetation during patrols, clear the fields of fire for machine-gun teams, and other similar heavy-duty tasks. The highly efficient MK1 machete had replaced an earlier “shorty” M1917 Bolo knife, which was just too small and too light for most of the tasks it was intended for.

This WW2 American Collins No 128 machete is unused with part of the original factory sticker still clinging onto the blade.  The blade has not been re-sharpened, the tip is intact; no pitting or surface rust; excellent overall condition.  This big boy is about 27″ / 68.5 cm overall; the blade is almost 22″ / 55.7 cm; dated 1941 on ricasso. Black plastic grips are intact with no typical chips, dings, or cracks; all parts are tight with no play. Original No. 13 all-leather COLLINS LEGITIMUS scabbard is in excellent shape, considering the age.  All original stitching and rivers are intact; the leather is a bit stiff but intact; belt hanger loop is intact and in 100% serviceable condition.  The scabbard is GI-signed A.D. COX JR / 0-379214 on the back. These early-war Collins leather scabbards are more scarce than the machetes themselves as most did not last long in hot and humid environment. Leather scabbards were quickly replaced with cheaper and more durable canvass-n-metal scabbards.

This original WW2 American Collins No 128 machete / rare early all-leather scabbard set is in excellent overall shape, considering the age; you will not be disappointed. Finding a complete and unaltered COLLINS LEGITIMUS machete/leather scabbard set is not that easy nowadays. Do’t miss your chance to add it to your collection!

This original WW2 American Collins No 128 machete set has not been cleaned or tampered with in any way, it is in 100% original “as is” condition. These are the actual photos; spent brass is not included with the lot 😉  I have a few more WW2 era machetes, several WW2 fighting knives/bayonets, as well as some scarce WW1 and WW2 fighting daggers and trench knives available for sale – please take a look in the store’s Militaria section.
