WW2 AFH M1905 bayonet with uncut 16-in blade and original composition scabbard. Scarce intact American Fork & Hoe “long” bayonet in rare unused condition. Hard to find this nice and complete.

Original WW2 era M1905 bayonet manufactured circa 1942 by American Fork & Hoe (AFH); rare uncut 16″-blade specimen in rare UNUSED condition.  A scarce type in general – mid-war most of the original M1905 bayonets were cut-down and re-furbished as the “short pattern” bayonets often referred to as M1942.Uncut AFH M1905s are hard to come by nowadays, especially in unused condition.

This is a well-made bayonet with crisp lines and a well-defined edge; ricasso is sharply stamped AFH / US “flaming bomb” on one side. This bayonet is unused with original factory edge – better than average condition for the type; Parkerized blade is very sharp; the tip is intact. The spine is clear with no typical ding marks; the muzzle ring is excellent; H-marked pommel is in great shape as well with no contact marks or nicks. Black plastic handle grips are in great shape; all handle parts are tight. The scabbard/bayonet release mechanism is excellent and 100% functional. The bayonet is about 20-1/2″ / 52 cm overall; the blade is about 15-7/8″ / 40.5 cm. Original “long” composition scabbard with MK1-marked steel throat is in great condition. The underside plate is marked B3/0N. Steel throat is marked USN / MK 1 . The US War Department had told the manufactures to “waste nothing”, so they used whatever material was suitable during production, including the unused quantity of scabbard parts intended for training bayonets and discontinued USN MK1 Utility Knife.

Overall, this WW2 AFH M1905 bayonet is in excellent condition. A desirable and highly collectible type; VERY rare this nice.
