WW1 Remington M1917 bayonet for Enfield rifle and American trench shotguns; original leather scabbard included. Great overall condition, 17″ blade is still covered in cosmoline; scarce this nice and complete.
Original WW1 era US-made M1917 bayonet with original 1st pattern leather scabbard in scarce practically used condition. Marked with Remington stamp on ricasso, as well as with the British “broad arrow” arsenal acceptance stamp – M1917 bayonets were issued for the use with the British Enfield rifles, as well as for all US Trench shotguns.
Excellent quality bayonet with crisp lines; the original-edge blade is still covered in rust-preventing cosmoline. Original wood grips have a few contact marks but in great shape overall with no cracks or chips. Bayonet release mechanism is tight and 100% functional. The bayonet is about 21-7/8″ / 55.5 cm overall; the blade is about 17″ / 43.2 cm long. Muzzle ring and pommel are excellent; a few minor contact marks on the ring are noted for accuracy. Original leather scabbard with steel fittings; the throat is stamped with WJH / B acceptance stamp; about 50% of the original od-green paint remaining.
Overall, this US-made WW1 Remington M1917 bayonet and original scabbard are in excellent shape; this type is VERY hard to find this nice. Don’t miss your chance to add it to your collection!
