Description

Vietnam War fighting knife “private purchase” fighter with M7-style blade; made in Japan. Original leather scabbard included; scarce type in great condition, considering the age.

These inexpensive “private purchase” type fighting knives were popular during the Vietnam War era; including the many types manufactured in Japan. This type has the blade finished in the M7 bayonet style; there is no name of actual maker; ricasso is simply stamped JAPAN on one side. This specimen is used but it is in very good overall condition.  This fighter is about 11-3/8″ / 29 cm overall; the blade is about 6-1/2″ / 16.5 cm long. The edge is very sharp still; the tip is slightly nicked; some surface rust on the blade is noted for accuracy (cleanable). Stacked leather washers handle with iron half-guard; all parts are tight with no play. Original leather scabbard is excellent with only minor stitching loss. The leather is soft and supple still with no typical oxidation/rust around snaps and rivets. This original Vietnam War fighting knife is in 100% serviceable condition still.
