Vietnam War era Imperial M7 bayonet VP M8A1 composition scabbard. Excellent unused condition – scarce this nice.

Original Vietnam War era M7 bayonet manufactured by Imperial Cutlery in scarce unused condition. The M7 bayonet was first issued in 1964; it was originally designed for the M16 rifle but it will fit several later-produced US combat rifles, including the current M4 carbine.

This specimen is in rare unused / unissued condition with original finish and factory edge. The bayonet is about 12″ / 30.4 cm overall; parkerized blade is about 6-7/8″ / 17.5 cm long. The blade has not been re-sharpened, original factory edge is razor-sharp; the tip is intact. Ricasso is unmarked as intended; muzzle ring/guard is stamped US M7/ IMPERIAL. Black plastic handle grips are near-excellent with no chips or dings; all parts are tight with no play. Original M8A1 composition scabbard was originally made in the late 1940th – early 1950th by Victory Plastics Co. (VP stamp on the throat); the scabbard is slightly used; square “eagle” DOD acceptance stamp on ricasso – these stamps were used un the late 1940th, if I remember correctly. The unpainted “gun-gray” steel throat is stamped USM8A1 / VP CO. on the front side; web hanger is excellent.

This original Vietnam War era Imperial M7 bayonet VP M8A1 composition scabbard are in excellent overall condition and 100% serviceable still. Not cleaned or tampered with in any way, 100% original “as is” condition.  I have a few more Vietnam War fighting knives and bayonets, as well as several scarce WW1 and WW2 American and European fighting daggers, bayonets and trench knives available for sale – please take a look in our Militaria section.
